DNA evidence linked Tara Indrakosit Brazzle, 44, of Valparaiso, Indiana (formerly of Lancaster, Pennsylvania) to the baby girl, according to the DA.

She was arrested in California in 2021 for "infanticide by asphyxiation," as Daily Voice previously reported.

"Baby Mary Ann", was 36 weeks old when she was found in the 500 block of North Queen Street in 2007, the DA explained.

Brazzle was charged with one count of criminal homicide for the death.

She "entered an 'Alford plea,' whereby she acknowledged the Commonwealth had sufficient evidence to convict her of third-degree murder, but she didn’t specifically admit to the conduct. The plea is treated the same as a conviction, the DA said.

She was sentenced by Lancaster County Judge Merrill Spahn to 5 ½ to 20 years in prison and to pay $4,846.62 for special costs of prosecution regarding the DNA laboratory fees, according to the release.
